Let’s make things clear — even before our first session.
Parents and students often have a few questions before getting started, and I’m always happy to talk through the details. Below you’ll find answers to the most common things I’m asked about tutoring, sessions, technology, and how it all works. If you still have questions, just scroll down and send me a message — I’d love to help.
Frequently Asked Questions

I specialize in math, chemistry, and physics — from middle school through college intro courses. I’m especially familiar with the Alberta curriculum (Math 10C through Math 30-1, Chem 20/30, Physics 20/30, etc.) and the Common Core math curriculum used across many parts of the US (algebra, geometry, algebra 2/trig, precalculus, etc.). I also help students prepare for standardized tests like the SAT, PSAT, and Grade 9 PAT.
-
Both! I work in-person with students in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and tutor online across Canada, the U.S., and beyond. Online sessions are conducted through Zoom with screen sharing and shared annotation (so that I can see the student’s work), a document camera (so the student can see my work), and tools like Desmos (for graphing) or pHet (for science simulations) to help students learn visually.
-
Every session is tailored to the student. We might review homework, prep for an exam, or walk through challenging concepts together. I use conversation and step-by-step problem solving to make sure the student really understands what we're working on — not just memorizing answers.
-
I work with middle school, high school, and college students — and occasionally with adult learners, too. If a student is struggling with STEM subjects or just wants things explained more clearly, we’ll likely be a good fit.
-
Yes! I regularly help students prepare for Alberta diplomas (final exams), the Grade 9 PAT, and standardized tests like the SAT or PSAT. Sessions can focus on strategy, practice problems, and reviewing the concepts that tend to show up most often.

I do my best to be flexible, but I also keep a full schedule — which means it’s important to protect your reserved time slot. Here’s how it works:
For One-Time Sessions:
24 hours notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.
If less than 24 hours notice is given (except for contagious illness for in-person sessions), the full session fee will be charged.
For Monthly Learning Plans:
Your time slot is reserved just for you each week.
One-off reschedules within the same week are subject to a $20 rescheduling fee.
If you need to permanently switch to a new regular time (for example, a seasonal activity like soccer practice), I’m happy to accommodate if there’s an opening — no fee for a permanent change.
Missed sessions without proper notice are counted as used and will not be refunded.
Special Notes:
For contagious illnesses (in-person sessions), no advance notice is required — just let me know so we can protect everyone’s health.
Emergencies do happen, and if something urgent comes up, please reach out so we can work together to find the best solution.
Why this policy matters:
Keeping schedules consistent helps students make steady progress and ensures I can give each family the dedicated time they’ve booked. Frequent last-minute changes make it harder for everyone to stay on track — this policy keeps things fair and focused.
